arrow weight, jennings
Hey all, new guy question..Some one gave me a Jennings fire star, I think its a 1997 model, and is a 80# bow setup for 27"draw length, 70# pull.
The bow was never fired, all new stuff.
The arrows that came with it are easton 2114, XX78 super slam.
question is, are these arrows correct and or safe to shoot withis rig ?
125 grain target tips.

You can check it out on Easton's website or www.bowjackson.com. My being around archery for about 30 years I can already tell you they are way underspined for that weight.

I don't remember what Jennings called them, but they're the same type as the old Hoyt energy wheels. Instead of using Easton's chart, you'll need to go to www.bowjackson.com and use the interactive Easton chart he has. His chart still has a selection for round wheel bows, while the Easton chart does not.
If your arrows are 27" or shorter with 100 gn points, and if you intend to shoot a release, they'll do okay at 70 pounds draw. But you'll be right on the edge of having to go to a stiffer arrow.

Just out of curiousty, could one of you guys tell me about what FPS this thing should be getting ?...27"...70#. roughly speaking, I think its a 1997, seems like a heavy duty bow, weight wise. thinking getting it lowered down to about 60 too, getting too dang tired too fast at practice. thinking also this may be a max 70 pound, the only info I could find was forum post where it said this model was a 70 pound bow..on the bow it has in pen, 27, and 70 written in. no other indication of weight anywhere, no paper work.
