Default 2004-2005 bowtech limbs cracking

Was at the Pro-Shop the other day talking with a bunch of fellas and a guy came in that stated his limb had cracked and this was the fourth one. We got to looking at everyone's bows and another guy found a crack in his. What is the concensus has anyone else had their bowtech limbs crack running down the center of the limb from the limb bolt to the cams? We looked at one of the cracks and it was all the way through and the other was just on the top.

Be sure it's an actual crack..I went through this with a Hoyt. It wasn't a crack in the limbat all but merely the finish cracking.

Now I know for a fact that Mathews has had problems with cracking risers. The Extruder they used for the riser had Die issues and was not removing the coring and/or hadtransverse weld issues. (this is my field ) But basically the riser was not pure Alloyed aluminum, it had forgeign substances (grease, oil, air) trapped in the riser before it was machined.

I wonder if poeple are just trying to get something started by saying this about bowtech.i just bought a new defender and owned a patriot with no problems.I talked to a guy I know who is a bowtech dealer and he said he has never had any come back!! he said there limbs are made by the same manufacture as mathews and many others.he said sure if you dry fire it a couple times any bow will crack the limbs.and if you are trying to use to light of an arrow and have been shooting it that way 1,000 times.you know trying to shoot 350 feet a second.just my thought.

No problem here and I have been shooting my Old Glory since last February....3D and indoors. With a 31 inch draw and a 70 pound peak weight you would think that if anybody should be seeing limb problems it would be me.

Cannot say that I have and this is at least the 5th or 6th Bowtech I have owned. What type of arrow weights are these folks with limb problems shooting out of their bows? If it is a relatively light arrow then I can see this issue coming up. Having a warranty down to 5 grains per pound is fine but I won't shoot that light.

I personally went through 3 sets of limbs on my 04 Liberty. After that we sent the bow in and they said it was a pocket problem. Replaced the pockets, bolts, and limbs, and there hasnt been a problem since.

I have an 04 Liberty maxed out at 61lbs shooting a 384gr arrow. I've been shooting it hard since i bought it and haven't had any problems at all. I think many of the stories you hear of limbs cracking are from guys trying to shoot light arrows with heavy poundage or either the bow has been incorrectly pressed. I'm completely satisfied with my Bowtech and would not hesitate to buy another one. Matter of fact i have a Patriot on my wish list as i type!

guy's not trying to start anything. the scenario took place at Coe Archery the employee Joel when we looked at his bow was the second bow that day that had a crack.

Joel called bowtech, they advised to back off the limbs at least 1/4 inch from being bottomed out. You want to see a hair line bit of daylight between the pocket and the riser.

I love my mighty mite and although it has had it's share of quirks it's a great bow. I know im only 70lbs and I'm two turns backed out so I should be fine.

Are you kidding me[:@]
I'm on my 3rd set of limbs...and even these have finishing cracks which is unacceptable in my mind. Never dry fired my bow, not light on my arrows...
Granted it was the first year Patriot... I guess I was making it all up, specially those great big splinters on the side of my limbs!
