5 grains is roughly 1 fps. However you are changing teh FOC of the arrow with an identicle fp vs bh, so if you are running low foc with fp, then you might hit low with the bh.

But like you said, 100% confidence in equipment is the most important thing, I use to tinker til they hit identicle, now I switch to BH and play around until the group tight at all ranges, starting by BH tuning. Usually they end up real close.

Since it isn't legal to hunt with field points anywhere that I'm aware of it's really rather pointless to compare most broadhead's performance to them anyway . I practice with field points too , but as the season nears I switch over to the broadheads exclusively . Any problems that I'm gonna have then will become apparent in time to correct them . Switching back and forth from fields to B-heads has been a waste of time for me , and somewhat frustrating , so I don't do that anymore .

Yeah but.... {call me ignorant and lazy}...

I always shoot both field tips and broadheads. I practice in my backyard with field tips a majority of the time. Then I goof around shooting both for a while, so I can see where my broadheads are hitting in relation to the field tips. Once I find a broadhead that hits exactly where my field tips do, I call that perfect and then just go with it.

I shoot 125gr field tips out to 40 yards and am pretty much dead on in the bullseye. My 125gr Slick Tricks fly just like field tips too. But ironically, my 100gr Magnus Stinger 4 blade heads also, strangely enough, fly just like field tips even though their 25 grains lighter. I got a headache trying to figure it out, so I just go for it with what I got.

I agree with Snood Slapper . . . the minor difference would be negligible. Similarly If one wasn't careful the balance could be thrown out of whack!
