Default Can you figure my IBO speed for me?

Can you figure my IBO speed for me? I dont have the slightest idea how I would go about doing it. I know speed isn't everything, I shoot a 510 grain arrow. Im just curious how it would compare to "todays bows".

26 inch draw
54 pounds
242fps with a 342 grain arrow.

What else do you need to know?

The way I see it, IBO=350 grain arrow, 70 lb. draw and 30 inch draw.

342 grain arrow=242 fps, so to make it easier, say that a 350 grain arrow =240 fps. Another 16lbs of draw weight should be roughly 30 fps. Also, Im not positive what 4 inches of draw length would be good for, but say 25 fps (?) which would put you close to 300 IBO.

I have heard that 1" of draw length is 10 fps. I do not know if that is true with Oneidas, but it should be close. Higher letoff reduces speed, but only by a few fps.

Before I posted this, I used 11fps per inch of draw and 2 fps per pound of wieght. I came up with 350fps. I did something wrong. This is why I hate math. [:@]

310fps? Holy cow. I always thought this thing was a slug. Wow. I know its all theoretical, but it gives me an idea.

ORIGINAL: Dairy King

, I shoot a 510 grain arrow.
26 inch draw
54 pounds
242fps with a 342 grain arrow.
I am confused. Do you shoot a 342 grain, or a 510 grain arrow? I could very possibly be wrong here, and mean no insult to anyone....but, how is a 26 inch, 54 pound draw bow going to shoot 300+ fps?

IBO rating is 70#, 30", and 5 grains per pound, yes?

I took it as he shoots a 510 grain arrow but gave us fps specs for the 342 grain arrow.

but, how is a 26 inch, 54 pound draw bow going to shoot 300+ fps?
It won't. He was asking if his bow were set at IBO specs what it would shoot.

That was the speed it was when shooting a 342 grain arrow. I currently shoot a 510 grain arrow. I wanted to know what the speed would be if I lengthened the draw to 30 inches, and added 16 pounds of draw weight, etc etc. My bow as it is now, will never shoot 300+fps, but if I were to make it into IBO specs, how would this compare to the bows out now. I would look it up, but this isn't a production bow. So, thats out of the picture.
