Knowing what I know now after purchasing a number of very good bows over the years and then taking a beating upon attempting to sell them.My suggestion would be to visit with the bow shops in your area and let them know what you are looking for.There is no doubt in my mind that you can find an upper end bow from any of the manufacturers (Hoyt,Matthews,Pse,Bowtech)that is only two to three years old for the price range you are looking in and have a really great bow.Have one of the shops measure your friend so you can pursue internet options as well.
No doubt shiny and new and just out of the box is more fun though!
