You could also build a pigeon trap. It's just a cage with a "funnel" so they can get in but can't get out. I built one about 5 years but never put it to use. Hopefully I will use it someday! LOL

I dont know if pigeons will go into a funnle like quail. Most of the pigeon traps I have seen use Bobs, wires that hang down from the top and only allow the birds to walk in but not out. I am not saying that it will not work but I have never seen the use of a funnel for pigeons.

You could purchase a trap from a dog training supplier like www.lioncounty.com or Maybe Cabelas has them. I think they cost 50 bucks maybe.

Thanks guys for the replies I will try to get out this weeeknd to get some birds. It looks like it will be a couple of more months before I can buy some pen raised pheasents, or quail.

If you try and trap them and use a trap with bobs. Tie the bobs open for a couple of days and put corn in the bottom of the trap and let the birds get used to getting into the trap.
