Default RE: Lyme Disease ?

So sorry to hear this, but I am glad to say I don't have this problem-no offense but i love my dog!
From what I understand about Lyme disease in humans you can't totally cure the seizures. Epilepsy is also a likely problem.

sorry to hear this.

My German Shep had it a few years back. His joints were sore all the time and he lost some weight. Soon as we thought he was over it he started having seizures. They thought he would have epilepsy also, but after about 3-4months he never had anymore. 3-4months sounds long but once it started to clear it only had about 1 per month. Good luck I hope it clears up!!

We use a spray on him now. Once every month. Kills ticks, fleas, misquitos, etc. Seems to be working. It's from the local Tractor Supply Co.

Jim.....

1. One of my labs has epillepsy and is on 60mg of phenolbarbitol twice a day. He would sieze 1-2 times per week. With the meds...he has not had a seizure in over a year.

2. I use to use Frontline for ticks and even had my boys vaccinated for lymes, however my new vet said it can be very inefective. The best way to ensure your dog does not get lymes is to give him a cycle of Doxycycaline (sp?) once per year preferably at the end of the fall season. It takes several months for lymes to incubate and the doxy will knock it out of the dog.

3. Sorry to hear your dog still has a high level of lymes in his system.

Good Luck and Good Training

That's great. Hope he has no more...ever!

Jim. It is fronline, but I was wrong before, it ain't a spray. It's drops that go behind the collar.
It's supposed to kill all three.
