Default Norwegian Elkhound

My wife found a Norwegian Elkhound and decided she had to have it and now I am interested in training it for hunting. I have seen where the Elkhound has been used for moose, bear, wolves, rabbits, coons and even upland game birds. I have trained pointing dogs but never owned an Elkhound. Has anyone on here had any experience hunting with this breed? I am anxious to see what type of hunter she'll be. I don't even know how well they take to water. She is 9 weeks old and does retrieve. Maybe I could use her for ducks and geese in the late season when my shorthairs would freeze to death. Any input from someone with experience with this breed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have never heard even heard of this breed before. Sounds interesting though, is your avatar a picture of the dog?

No, that's my gsp. I will upload some pics shortly.

We went to a friend's house for July 4th picnic and she went for a swim in his pool and seemed to enjoy it so... maybe the waterfowl idea might work.
