Default Top-notch English Setter pups on the way?

I' m excited because I think one of my young English Setter bitches may be pregnant. About two weeks ago, she hooked up with the stud dog four times and now she has gained about three pounds and is eating like there' s no tomorrow. I did over a year of research to get this mating done, and I' ve had to wait two years for it to happen, so with three years invested I am hoping everything turns out ok.

If the breeding did take, the pups will be some of the best-bred English Setter birddogs on the West Coast, suitable for hunting all types of wild gamebirds, and they should be perfect for walking field trials. The mom and dad are also awesome house pets. I' ll keep everyone posted as to her progress. It doesn' t get any better than this!!!

The bitch is a daughter of 5x NSTRA Champion Pay Per View and 3x NSTRA Champion Tomoka' s Smokin' Maggie.

The potential Sire (dog) is the reigning Fun Trial Dog of the Year in the Northwest Region (NSTRA) and is the son of (7x NSTRA Champion) CH I' m Dick Too. His call name is Flash and many in Field Trials in the Northwest USA will know this dog. He is widely considered to be one of the best young wild-chukar dogs in the region.

Both are registered with the FDSB.

The grandparents are: Sire (13x CH Tricky Dick Jim/Mahoney' s Rose and Tekoa Mountain Knight/CH King' s Dizzy Tiz); Dam (21x CH Tomoka' s Smokin' Mike/6x Ch Sue Maggie Sue and 2x CH Tomoka' s Smokin' Max/6x CH Shirley' s Tomoka Peach). If you are not familiar with Setter lines, CH Tricky Dick Jim is the father of both CH I' m Dick Too and Tomoka' s Smokin' Mike. As such, this is a breeding that should produce very fine puppies, indeed.

No weight gain last week but her teats are beginning to enlarge. I should be able to feel something by the end of this week (I hope).

She has gained another two pounds and her teats are greatly enlarged.

I can now feel two puppies in her abdomen, just below the ribcage. It' s official!

She is gaining weight like a freshmen sorority girl away from mama for the first time! Seems to chunk-up a bit more every time you look at her!
The pups are due somewhere around May 25. I can' t wait to see what they look like!

The pups are now three weeks old and doing great. It is a beautiful litter...I' ve fallen in love with three different little bitches...even considering selling off a well-started young dog so the wife will let me keep one!
