Sad News
I find it to be sad news that the State of Maine is trying to pass a law that all imported dogs be quarranteened for 5 days at the owners expense.. It appears to have come about after 3 cases of imported dogs came down with distemper. No proof on how they got the disease only some dreamed up idea. It also makes me wonder when they will try to do this to all dogs coming into the state regaurdless of a visit or not. What if some folks brought their hunting dogs up for a week of hunting? There is no doubt in my mind this is purely a money grabbing situation..[:@]

Phil....thanks for the input.
I have tentative plans to do some grouse hunting in the Lincoln area this Fall. I'll be hunting with a buddy of mine and planned to bring my 5 yr old Springer...The dog and I are NH residents...

Phil at least it is not like the U.K. and is 6 months at the owners exspense. Boarding for that long is over 3 grand in some places. I can see quarranteening in their situation since rabbies and a few other things are not found there. But just like the rest of the states Maine has all the known diseases. Sombody on the Vet. board of the state must be wanting to open up some boarding kennels $$$$$$$$$ is what they see.

Right now they do not have their way yet!! I hope they never do if the dogs coming in have been vet checked and all the shots are up to date. So I fail to reconnise why they are trying to pursue this, except for a money sceme. I know when someone wants to import a dog the expense is quite a bit, and most will be guarranteed and vet checked prior to. I also wonder if Maine gets this passed will it affect how other states may make a change? This mostly came about because of animal rescue and most people believe in trying to rescue animals. These animal rescue groups also have them vet checked and spayed/ neutered to try and help cut down on unwanted animals? So again why? is beyond me!
