Axel is growing like a weed and
Axel is tracking lines beautifully. Axel and I had our 3rd session. The other day I laid a line at 12:30 and I waited til after work at 5:30, a good 5 hours later. This was the longest we waited to this point to work a line. The trail was about 200 yards long with 2 right turns and a left. It worked across a atv trail.
Axel ran the line actually too fast until he hit the trail. Apparently some horses came through ealier and he had a little trouble. It was amazing to watch him check back and forth for the line. Once on it he had no trouble tracking to the end and his prize.
Here's a special photo of another favorite passtime...chewing sticks..lol

RE: Axel is growing like a week and
Rob glad to see he is working out great. It never ceases to amaze me how much a young dog can smell and track. Keep us informed on his progress. By the waygreat pictures, did you send some to Andy? I look forward to working with my pups on a few blood lines or drags before they go to their new owners. I think watching them track when they are that young is just too cool.

Nicepost...and good news as well.
Sweet pic...Ya got a good one there. Just think of the many years you and Axel will spend together in the field.
I saw first hand what dogs will do when cutting a scent trail. My Springer will jump thru a hoop of fire for his tennis ball. A few years back he never had the opprtunity to smell a wild bird. I often thought if he will only react the same way to birds as he does to his tennis ball, I would be very impressed.
Once he was trained what to hunt for and discovered (truly discovered) the scent of a bird, he is a different dog.
Again good luck.

Thanks guys, I ran Axel on his 4th, longest and oldest line yesterday. It was about a 300 yard, 7 hour old line and he ran in like a champion. I'm still impressed what good breeding and natural ability can do in the canine lines.
I act like a proud dad although I have no real ability behind the dog. I'm trying to learn him more than he is me if you know what I mean.
Doc E, you said that right, like I said, it's all about him and me learning us...
Backwudz, pleasure meeting you as well, I hope you visit back to the forums, you'll find a nice place to stay here.
wildlands, Andy follows the pups progross on the United Blood Trackers member forum which I joined as well as PA's forums on the Bowsite.
Jimmy S, thanks, I love Springers and if I actually had some good bird hunting I'd thought about one, it's tough to find birds around here. I hunted over some real good German Short Hairs and was in AWE on bird dogs abilities. No wonder our 4 legged friends are considered, Man's Best Friend.
