RE: Weekend Report - lets hear from you.
Ok I'll start.
Saturday, I was late getting in the woods. Just light enough to see without the flash light. Jumped a couple going in.
Got up the tree. After an hour, I saw a tail flicker. Then the deer bedded down about fifty yards out, in the brush. Turned out to be four deer bedded down. One was a buck, looked like a six or seven point. After about three hours the got up and walked away of course.
So I hung the bow up on the hook to sit and chill for awhile. When I turned around to sit down I looked to the left and two bucks were coming in fast. They were still in velvet. BUT....When I reached for the bow, they stopped. They knew I was there but didnt see me. They stomped and nervously walked back and forth, like a wall was there. BUT NO SHOOTS....
But after they left, two does came running out of nowhere a little later. They moved through so fast I never got my bow up.
About lunch time I cought a doe sneaking around me out about 60 yards. She keep on going.
A doe and fawn with spots still on its butt came in just out of range.
I seen four or five more farther out but could'nt tell what they were.
Then the monsoon hit before I could get out. I got home about four o'clock soak and wet.
Sunday I went to another spot below the soybean field. Half hour after I got up the tree, two little basket racked bucks came up about twenty yard through the tick stuff. I was going to draw just before they steped out into the opening. Then they went on full alert! I could hear something cooming. Then I seen this black dog running at them, the deer took off....with two dogs chasing!

Seen a doe and the butt of another, but still no shots.
Maybe next weekend

Dude, sounds like you were covered up in deer.
My season is not open yet but I did do some scouting and work on my food plots and stands. Seen 1 deer and 6 tom turkeys.

RE: Weekend Report - lets hear from you.
Went out Saturday, sat all day. Seen a spike right at day break he was out of range, so I just watched him for about 30 minutes. Then for a while, nothing was moving except for crows. Then about 10:30 six turkeys came into the food plot. Went to the house and ate lunch about noon. Got in another stand about 2:00 and sat there until dark seen four does and a fox. Didn't get a shot. Went out sunday morning, was in the stand for about 15 minutes when thunderstorm moved in. I figured sitting in a tree probably wasn't the best place to be with lightning in the area. So no shots this weekend, but still alot of fun. Just hoping for cool weather to come in soon. Maybe better luck this afternoon.

Season not open. I have been planting wheat sence Sat AM and have seen two deer. Both slick heads. I would like to have seen a lot more but thats the way it goes. When this wheat starts coming up things will pick up.

Still about three weeks untill season opener here in Va. I did some scouting and seen a few deer, had turkeys all over and two elk. My nine year old son got his first shot at a tree rat Saturday and is still telling everyone how big it was and how close he was to hitting it. Last I knew it was up to about 15 pounds and two feet from nose to tail

Well, I spent this weekend just like every other one this summer. Working. Well, I did have that argument with the wife about wanting to buy some land, that went over like a lead balloon. Hopefully I can hunt vicariously through you guys until I find a job that will allow me some time to hunt.

RE: Weekend Report - lets hear from you.
I hunted last week in Washington County, GA.
Opening morning I was on a good stand in some pines near a Persimmon tree and I saw.....a rabbit.
Then, in the rain that evening, I hunted a clear-cut.....yes...I was the ONE guy in a tree in all that mess of a storm.....I saw 5 does and a bobcat. All out of range of course.
The next day, Sunday, the weather was still sketchy, so I drove around the property and did some scouting. Saw 21 deer, three rabbits, one wild hog and an armadillo.
Fun weekend..but I have to take care of some chores around the house this weekend.
We'll get 'em next weekend. Hope everyone has great luck and please be safe out there.
