Seems to me that all I hear about is these massive deer that comes from the North. Were do y' all hunt and what is the average size and largest dear shot last year on the property hunted. I live in Slidell and hunt in Woodville MS about 15 miles from the Mississippi river. The average deer is about 120# and we shot a 10pt 220# last year.

" North" to us Cajuns is around Monroe or north of Alexandria. I ' ve seen some real nice bucks come out of Tensas Reserve. Its a lottery type hunt. One on Thanksgiving weekend and the other one in December. Some other ones to check out would be Red Dirt and Red River.

Two years past I harvested a ten pointer here in VA (fauquier) that dressed out at 225, without the head, hide, guts, and legs, . The butcher said it was the biggest deer he' d seen in his shop since he owned it (35 years).
Average deer on our farms run around 110 for does and 160 for bucks

bushman,
I hunt about 1 hr south of Monroe. About 10 years ago, I killed a 4pt that weighed over 200 lbs.
But in the past 5 years my brother and I have hunted around Enterprise and the average dressed weight of our deer would be around 70 - 80 lbs. And we typically kill 4-7 (combined) each year.
On our current club, I killed a six point that weighed 110. My brother has killed an 11pt (bow) and a 5 pt (rifle) that weighed around 140 each.
This year so far, I have killed two does and he has killed one. They all weighed between 60 and 70 lbs, completely dressed.
There are some nice deer on Tensas and I have seen some 200+ pounders up there. Missed a real good 7 point up there a few years back. I hunt in an area with lots of hills and very little for the deer to eat, so we have smaller deer. I would say the average live weight of the deer killed on our club is around 130 lbs.

In Southhampton VA, the body weights of the average buck is about 140 to 150. I killed an eight point buck two years ago that was 169. In 1986 I killed a nine point that weighed 189 and that is the last deer I think we have killed over 180 at our club.
