New to site from Northern Va.
Good morning everyone. Happy Thanksgiving. My name is Chuck, I am 46 and returning to hunting after being out of the game for over 30 years. Went out and bought a Savage .270 to get started with and getting a Summit Viper tree stand tomorrow. Been out a few times to GR Thompson WMA. Have not seen a darn thing. Checking around to try to get some private land to hunt on. I have a buddy out in Culpeper that has 14 acres that I am going to scout tomorrow. Question one is :Can I use a firearm out there or is there a certain size lot before using a firearm? Just want to be legal. Also looking for some new friends on here that might be able to hunt with and relearn the sport. Also are there any area clubs looking for members? Thanks for the help and advice.

First things first - check the DGIF website and read all about hunting, deer hunting, firearm laws, what's legal, what's not, etc...etc...

The good news is that in Culpeper, you can use the .270 rifle as per the regs. Public land hunting is always hard to hunt, as the game animals all have calendars and they know when it's hunting season! LOL...
