Default RE: Food Plot

First where are you located? North ,south middle of the state etc. Second: what type of soil do you have? Third: What do you get for rain in your area and is your place wet(swampy) or dry (timber land)? Fourth: can you get to your food plots with equipment or are you packing it in on your back? Fifth: What type of game are you trying to get (hogs, turkey, deer etc?). Sixth: How big will your plots be? Seventh: How much can you (willing to) spend. Eigth: When will you be hunting this bow, gun, all? Ninth: WHAT IS YOUR P.H FOR THE SOIL?

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE IN MY FOOD PLOT BECAUSEI ADDED LIME. I will bet that it is producing 5 times the forage for 1/5 of the seeds that I planted. Get a soil sample and I can help you a bit. There is also a section called wildlife management on here that have a lot of guys that know a LOT more than me.

Now to actually answer your question.

Spring: Iron clay peas. The deer will mow them down.

Fall: Rye grass
