Has anyone ever hunted the Chassahowitzka WMA..I have access to a private cabin up there which is owned by a former principal friend of mine..It looks like there are no roads and access is by boat only..and the still hunt area looks about 4 to 5 miles from the boat ramp[

I hunted the area several years ago. There are roads that lead in from US Hwy 19 and you can access a lot of hunt area by roads but as with any place in Florida, you have to work for it. It is hunted pretty hard especially during the gun hunts.

I appreciate the heads up...I'll stay put then. Like i said before..if ya go in deep enough you got your own private lease..
I walk to school everyday to lose weight and strenghthen my legs.My school I teach at is 4 miles away.I plan to lock and hide 2 different wheel barrows where I hunt at.It would be impossilbe to drag a deer out where I hunt at.A man tried it last year in the Green Swamp and died of a heart attack..I saw the biggest buck in my life last year..Rifle scopes are not good where I hunt at...and i never got a shot off although the deer was within 20 yds.I called him in on "The Can" ..I've since taken off my scope and put on Tru Glo sites...I'll shoot my rifle in after school is out. YOu can also carry a pistol with you when your scouting or bow hunting..They added that law 2 years ago..IF you have a Concealed Weapons Permit..I would not scout without one..Florida is wild country.
