Default Would you hunt this scenario?

Here is the situation.
Place: Florida Wildlife Management Area
Locale: 0.8 miles down public access trail

The trail is located on the edge of a creekbottom and a 10-15 year ago prescribed burn which has no overstory and an understory of scrub oak and palmetto. There are two heavily fruiting persimmon trees located directly on the public access trail and only 60 yards to the creek. Several huge oaks as well but I don't know if the acorns will be falling at start of archery.

Would you hunt this? I'm worried I may get busted out by other hunters, but it seems ideal in the edge type of habitat as well as the nearness of water and thick cover along the creek. Should I spend my first day out hereand hope no other hunters come my way, or should Ihead further off trail?

I would try it what have you got to loose, if you have several other spots to hunt and this one doesn't work out then its no loss but if it works out for you then you might have yourself a little honey hole.

I'd hunt it..Honestly I have 4 spots

1. 2 mile walk

2. 1 1/2 mile walk

3. 2 1/2 milw walk

4. 1/4 mile walk.....

My best spot so far has been the 1/4 mile spot and I've seen no hunters.

When I hunt WMA'S in Kentucky I get a boat and access the remotest land by boat ... getting away from other hunters and into Monster Buck Territory ...

My odds just increased that any deer I see may not have ever laid eyes on a human, unless they viewed one in a boat, which is no threat at all.

Although I believe going deep is probably the best...last year proved me wrong. I had gone deep and when I was done huntin gi was walkin gback ot my truck. Aboput 1/4 mile before I reached my truck was a beautiful 8 and 10 point that bounded acoss a trail in front of me. I noticed the bay head where they came from.I found a good used hog wallow, and plenty of fresh sign. I set up there. The next day a doe walked up to me..The day following after thatI was visited by hogs. I'll be there th e1st day of archery. I did find an expensive stand near by but it was not used the entire season,

During firearm I'll use my 2 1/4 mile stand. Firearm is when I go deep. Nov..10th I'm going really deep ...1060 miles ..to the Ozarks in MIssouri..private farm.

I would hunt it!!--And plan on sitting longer esp. in the morning most hunters make more racket coming out of there stands than going in--Could possibly push deer by your stand on there way out!!

Youmay catch a biggun sneaking!!Good Luck!!

I would hunt it. I would try it it several times. Maybe you can pattern the hunters and than use it to hunt this spot. If there are persimmons there will be deer.

Cheers,
Chris

I would hunt it. Reason, two words: persimmon trees. Good hunting to you.
