Default Rut Going on No. Alabama

It early rut here and seeing deer if it would just stay cool. Willing to share No. Alabama hunt with other guys in southwest Alabama. If your south of Montgomery alone I-65 going to Mobile, I would like to hunt the rut in your area.

If you want to hunt the rut atmy place in Conechu county come on. Just don't get caught hunting out of season since our full rut doesn't start tillmid Febuary.

Does anyone else have this problem with a late rut?

Yes, our rut in Lowndes county doesn't reach a peak until the middle of Febuary. However, I have seen a little activity around Christmas and normally do get to see some chasing in mid to late January.

I'm from Oxford, right down the road from the Talladega NF and it's got really good hunting......if youcan put up withclimbing huge steep hills. The deeper in there you get the better. Most people just park off the road and walk up on the side of a hill and hunt, so if you get way back in there you have a good chance of seeing some very nice deer.A kid killed a 24 point non-typical beast up there last year.

My land in Butler and Wilcox is the same. They start abouth the last week of Jan. Hit it hard in Feb. And I've been turkey hunting in March and seen em chasing does... They know when we are not there and allowed to shoot em!

I've seen the same thing at my place in Early Turkey season. Matter of fact had my dad and I not been sitting in my double bull last year we would have gotten run over by a nice 8pt chasing a doe. They came so close to my blind I fell out of my chair and was trying to climb up my dad to get out of the way when they came by on my side.

Why Alabama can't get on board as other states have and have a late season primitive weapon season or something. According to the article in the AL Rule book its not even on the horizon.

Amen. To heck with the 5 day muzzleloader season they allow now before the start of rifle season when it's hot and the hunting sucks. I'd love to see at least a 7 day muzzleloader season starting the 1st of Feburary. The rut is just kicking in here in south Alabama. They would sell 20,000 smoke poles the first year they had such a season.
