Default Bobcat-Shoot-don't shoot Why?

Last week end while hunting w/ my 8 y.o. daughter we watched a Bob cat for 10-15 min it was hunting the same high line as we were.
I see 1-2 every yr and don't shoot them.
Every yr when telling of watching some one gives me greif for not shooting?
If I cant eat it and I'm not going to mount it.Why kill it?
I don't think they are a threat to the deer? Am I wrong?
Your input is as always appreciated.

Nah...I wouldnt shoot, either. I see only a couple of Bobcats every few years, so there are not that many around where I hunt. They dont pose a threat to deer, except maybe poaching a few fawns shortly after they drop, but I doubt that, too. Even a new fawn is pretty quick and dangerous with its hooves...seems to me Bobcats would prefer easier prey...like rabbits, squirrels etc. I sort of like cats, too, so it would be hard for me to take one. I dont think deer are too worried about Bobcats, either...deer smell carnivores all the time...foxes, coyotes, etc...so a few bobcats wouldnt be any big deal.

Actually I have never seen a Bobcat while out hunting. I have seen plenty of Foxes and Coyotes though and will take them out if it is late and nothing else is moving through the area. I love to Turkey hunt and these predators will destroy the turkey population quick.

The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

God Bless,
Dave
