Default Oklahoma Rut Action?

I'm beginning to think the deer I am hunting are gay.

I've logged over 40 hours of hunting already and seen deer every single hunt. Not a one has shown even a sign of pre rut activity. Is anyone else seeing anything that looks like we are getting closer?

I hunt in Payne County. Last Saturday I called in a small 8 pt with the can. Havent seen much pre-rut activity. We did find a new rub and a scrape line. I put up a mock scrape 2 weeks ago (with trails end scent) and placed a cam on it and had no pics????? I will be there Sat morn with the ol smoke pole. I plan to also take a few days off during the rut in Nov and go afield with the bow. They say that this is the latest we have or will have muzzleloader season and that the last weekend should be great.

Good luck to all Okies and continue to post your stories here so we can all interact.

I am hunting Payne County also. What part of the county are you hunting? I have grunted at 5 different bucks within 70-100 yards with no response. I have a can. I guess I'll have to try it Saturday.

Still seems early around here also. No rut activity, even seen a few groups of bucks hanging out together. I say another week and a half before we see some real activity with this new weather we're having.

I'm huntin west of Stillwater.

I realize its still a bit early but I was thinking (maybe hoping is a better word) that I could some how intice one of these bucks into bow range. Guess I'm just going to have to wait.

This cold weather should get the deer heading in the right direction. I have been out with my bow for the past 2 weeks only to see does. This weekend I will be hunting a different section than what my stand is on since I'll be using my .50 caliber!

Good luck to everyone and hunt safe!

I'm seeing fewer deer now than I was a couple of weeks ago. I did see a decent buck cross the road in front of me at mid-day today, though which is always a good sign. I'm still seeing does with fawns. I'm near Enid.
