Default Need a place to hunt in Virginia

My hunt club is being developed, so I did not re-join.
Anyone know of a place to hunt or a hunt club seeking members in Middlesex County?

Getting a little late to join a club for this year, don't ya think? If you drive around the back roads on a Saturday morning, you will find plenty of club hunters. Stop and talk with them, or wait in the local convienence store parking lot. There's always a sea of orange in those around 6:30. I'm not too fond of hunting behind dogs, so I'm not part of a club. I would recommend AP Hill, but the season would be over by the time you got your background check done. Good luck in your search.

Colonel, you still have a week to go in VA--all you need at AP from past memory is a valid VA Game and Fish training card that says you passed the course plus a hunting license.

Starting this year, AP Hill requires a clean state police background check.

I have researched the requirements at AP Hill, and plan to get started soon, so I am checked and ready later in the year. I do not have a Virginia training certificate, and cannot find any of the several I have acquired in the past. I guess they won't accept my Master Guide (Maine) license.

How can I get a training certificate - a little retraining never hurts.

Thanks - I am familiar with the web site. I talked to AP Hill this morning, and was told that they will accept my Virginia concealed carry permit in lieu of the background check, but I do not have a copy of a hunter's safety course. Virginia's DIFW web site does not have any courses listed yet, for 2006.

I can tell you that they didn't harvest nearly what they wanted. The mai reason is because of the background check. Most folks didn't mess with it. I think the total number of hunters registerd this year was around 500, compared to the 2100 last year. The next couple of years will be great. Not as many deer harvested and the bucks will get a chance to get a year older. The Game warden (kKilnk) has been terminated and next year you will only be able to take bucks on Satrudays. On an up note, you will be able to shoot does any day of the week.
