RE: Ticks still on deer?
Got to ask the same question as timbercruiser.....why wait? I have found ticks on deer here in VA the first week of January. I definatelywould'nt let ticks stop me from shooting a deer.

even with the cold weather their still going to be on the deer, not all deer ticks carry the L.D. just be careful when cleaning the deer, if biten the tick has to be attached for around 24 hour and have the L.D. before you can get it.my brother had L.D. a few years ago from a tick,he was biten in late jan. and didn't get sick til around mar.it like to have got the best of him.doc. said if he hadn't been a bigman,it would have, but don't let that keep you from bustingbig boy. be safe & good luck.

Oh I'll still shoot a good buck. I just doubt I'll shoot any does this weekend. Not because of the ticks. I was just wondering if they were as bad this year as they were 3 years ago. Here in West Alabama when it's warm as it has been, the ticks are real bad. Doesn't bother me just curious.

I shot a big doe in NY two weeks ago and she was covered from head to tail with them!!!!! And it was 10 degrees that morning and neve got above 36 the entire trip I was there. The cold and snow on the ground dont bother them I think it makes them want to find some warm blood to hook onto
