Yes it is good for 200 yds. and it will work for a 300 yds. with no problem. i carry the same gun because of it's weight. i have the ultra light handi-rifle. it weights five pounds. nice little gun and for the price you can not go wrong. i have found that h&r has many models that will shoot the pants of most of the more costly rilfes. try the winchester 45 gr. hollow points varmint loads in your rifle you will be very happy with the outcome. they move at 3600 fps.

yes 223 at yds is no problem i zero my savage 112 fv at 200 yds useing the winchester supreme 50 grain silver tips and have taken yotes at 250 and 300 holding almost right on the mark just a little bit high and they drop like stones ! missed one at 350 yds with a range finder shot went just low .

Great gun for chucks and yotes to 300+ yds . A friend bought 1 for his kid , he is pissed it out shoots his Rem 40X.
The only draw back is that you can only shoot the first yote , if more than 1 come in.
