I need a bait for bobcats and gray foxes
I am looking for a bait for bobcats and gray foxes. I only see them in the head lights and I want to bring them out to try to hunt them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rather than trying to bait fox and bobcat I would suggest buying a call and calling them. I really think you will have much better luck(especlally with bobcat) than waiting over a bait. Good luck an have fun!

out of all the predators grays are the easyest to call, bait is not nessasary.grays are very aggressive and will alot of the time literaly run you over trying to get that rabbit.i don't have alot of experience with bobcats but would expect them to be just as easy to call.out of all the predators, bobcats seem to be the least inteligent.head out at night or first light into a thicket or swamp and blow that rabbit call.be ready mr gray will come fast and hard.out of all the predators, grays are the most fun to hunt.

It sounds like the rabbit call is the best idea. Do you use electronic or mouth calls. Also how often do you call? I have an electronic call with a rabbit call and it screams constantly for about 45 minutes. I have also used a rabbit decoy along with it. The only thing I have brought in is a coyote. If this is the best idea, I will keep it up.

Matchemist, I have had the best luck calling gray fox with the Jonny Steward "gray fox pup in distress" tape. For cats the "woodpecker in distress" tape works well for me. Gray fox are very aggresive and come in pretty fast, usually with in 5 min. In most cases I won't stay longer than 15 min. If they don't show by then I move on. Cats take a littel longer as they seem to want to look things over longer and are much more causious. I usually stay at a stand for at least 30 min. for them. Also, I do most of my fox and cat hunting at night. I just seem to have a lot better succsess with these two animals at night. Hope this helps.
