RE: got some more ? on yote hunting.
mrfishy, you can call coyotes any time of the day, the reason some callers like to call at night is because that is when the coyotes/cats/fox are most active. In general, your early morning calling should be the best, because the coyotes are still usually in the hunting mode then, BUT you can call them in any time of the day, especially when it is cold and they are hungry. Days when it is windy, wind between 15-25 is concidered windy for me, it is tougher to call them in mainly because they don't like to move in the wind and they will have a harder time hearing you at longer distances. When its cloudy and windy, it is evan harder yet, really hard to even see them if they do come.
When blowing on that rabbit call, really put some "feeling" into it. Try to vision yourself as the rabbit in the claws of a hawk, and you are fighting for dear life! Try to put some quiver into the sound, like a rabbit getting shaken as it is fighting to escape.
Don't get down because of the lack of action, get back out when the wind dies down, and try it again. Good Luck!
