I trapped 30 or 40 skunks in Havahart live traps and picked up the trap from the end carried it to the creek (30 ft) and set them in slowly and did not have any spray. Then I had two in a row a week apart spray me while I was trying to do what I had gotten away with so many times. Shooting them from the side just behind the leg gets the lungs and usually they will just lie down and die without spraying. Remember I said " usually" .

I would not suggest shooting them in the head, neck, or back, because I' ve heard (and experienced 100% of the time) they spray when they receive a blow to the central nervous system. I' m going to try shooting them in the lungs when I get another one.

this isn' t really related to hunting but one time my uncle found a dead skunk and since he was learning to do taxidermy he brought it home. Well during preparing the thing he managed to hit the stink sac thingy and the whole neighborhood stunk for 2 weeks
