Can air rifle kill very small hog?
Hello everybody,
I know I'm posting this in small game section, but i mean REALLY small hogs that weight 20lbs.
I'm talking about Hatsan 55 .177cal which has 1000 FPS.
On youtube i saw PigMan which kills small hog with Gamo Fusion which has 1300 FPS with non lead pellets.
Can you tell me could Hatsan 55 kill small hog from 17-20 yards if i shoot it in the brain?
I calculated power and it's 17 FPE.
Feel free to vote too.

IMHO, I wouldn't mess with it (.177 caliber). I've seen videos of some .25 caliber airguns killing smaller hogs (looked like javelinas) but they were talking about a shot to the ear while the javelina was standing still. If you're set on hunting hogs with an airgun, I'd look at the Air Force Texan in .45 caliber. It's a PCP airgun and runs a $1K+ by the time you buy the gun and pump, etc. but you will be able to ethically and cleanly harvest a hog.

It is a bad question. The question should be can that gun consistently and humanely kill a hog. What is the point of killing a 20 lb hog anyway unless you are a land owner working on extermination because that will not happen.

I looked at all of the OP's threads and they all have the same theme...asking about the use of a marginal weapon for the job at hand. PM sent and thread locked.
