Any grouse hunter ?
Hello guys, first post here. I'm from Quebec, Canada and been hunting for about 14 years now. Mostly small games and turkey these past year but also deer back when I had my spot.
Anyway, the last three years I've been recording my hunts and thought I'd share them with you.
Also, any grouse hunter among you guys ?

You shoot grouse on the ground when you have a dog running? It is hard to impress grouse hunters when you shoot them out of trees with a shotgun and on the ground when a dog is running around.

Well first of, not trying to impress anyone. Just thought I'd share hunting videos.
Why do you assume I have my dog in both videos? We only see him in one and I ain't shooting on the ground.
I do shoot grouse on trees, on the ground and on the fly. What's the big deal ? Hunting is hunting, you kill for the meat?

Whatever lights your fire as the old saying goes, but normally most hunters don't shoot grouse out of trees or on the ground down here in the states. It did appear that you were aiming at the ground when the dog came through from left to right in the second video where you shot the bird up in the tree, but appearances can be deceiving. You ask what is the big deal and to answer that is that there are norms for hunting various species and normally grouse, partridge, quail, etc, are not shot out of a tree or while on the ground, but the more sporting way of shooting them on the wing. IMHO I believe that is what Oldtimr was alluding to in his post along with a possible safety issue which may or may not have been present in your videos. Welcome to the site!

foxhound if the way you hunt is legal and what floats your boat, you go right on doing it. many hunters or people in general think their way is the only way and would control the actions of others if possible. ignore them ,their opinions are unimportant.

Funny, as I didn't read any posts saying what he did was illegal, but rather what is the norm in grouse hunting and if he wants to shoot them on the ground or in a tree it's no skin off my teeth. The comment on safe hunting was also just that, a comment, and any comments on how to be safe when hunting is a good thing IMHO! One final comment though and that is that many are posting hunting videos on the net nowadays and a good share of them are not doing anything but being detrimental to the sport as we know it. Take for instance the video that FM linked to his post last week that was deleted by Mods showing guys blowing up hogs with tannerite under the guise of hunting and laughing about it.

as for the videos, don't disagree but the truth is ,anything anyone does in life is offensive to someone. so, I figure they have two choices. get over it or don't.
as to the tannerite video, I found it to be hillarious, though, I can see how it may offend ones delicate sensibilities and I find it hard to believe it is legal to do such a thing and would not myself. but if it is ,I have no objection to it

How you can find blowing up animals hilarious when it's a video showing body parts flying through the air in slow motion and many wounded ones writhing in agony while those guys are laughing about it, whether it's called hunting or not, tells me much more than I really want to know about your inner workings!

Thanks for the replies guys, I do enjoy the way I hunt. Everyone might not agree with it and it's okay. I do it for me and share others what I do, and as said someone somewhere will be offended anyway.
As for the tannerite, I didn't see the video but I get the picture. Not the kind of thing I like to watch so I just won't. I think that when you kill an animal it's for food, and doing it fast is important.
Still, I won't lecture anyone not following my way of thinking.
I'll enjoy watching your videos and reading your stories guys !
