Crows, Coyotes, badgers, gophers, raccoon, are vermin and shot on sight. One rancher gets a little upset if you see a porcupine on his place and don't shoot it. BTW, porcupine goes real good next to peas and potatoes.

Many years ago I shot a porcupine out of a elm tree. skinned that thing out and baked it using a old family recipe for whistle pig.
I didn't care for it as it tasted like elm bark. The birds enjoyed that hide all winter I had layed over a tree branch and forgot to remove later.

I also enjoy porcupine! I took one to a wild game dinner this past winter and it was very popular!
