Default .22 Mag Round

I'm setting up a .22 mag for some squirrel hunting and was wondering what's your favorite round for those of you using a .22 mag on squirrel.

I use Winchester super x 40 gr hollow points. Head shots or behind shoulders like a deer does not damage to much meat. Used to use cci 40 gr hollow points but Winchester are not much more and shot much better in all my 22 magnum all 6.

My experience was totally different. I tried a .22 magnum on a few squirrels and one rabbit a few years back. I was using the same ammo that you are (good stuff). The game was really torn up by the bullet so I went back to a regular .22 LR.

the few squirrels I have ever shot with a 22 mag never came home with me. Too torn up!!! Head, shoulder rib, didn't matter. And that was with 40grn solids.

Just barely touch their nose area and you should be OK.

Surely everybody knows what barking means if they are familiar with Daniel Boone, Natty Bumppo, etc.
