FoxPro Game Calls
#2
You can dang sure tell that deer season is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which caller is right for you is really a matter of how and where you hunt, and what you want to spend on a caller (i.e. how deep you want to get into predator calling).
Budget friendly: (this is the guy that's going to go calling a few times a year after deer season is over). The Wildfire is a FANTASTIC e-caller, runs $200, has 35 sounds pre-loaded that will cover any coyote caller's needs. The volume is a little weak for wide open windy country, but with a $50 SP-55 speaker, it will suit incredibly well. I have called Western KS with a Spitfire (same set up as the Wildfire) for years and haven't ever felt too underpowered. I added a $50 radio-shak amplifier and an SP-55 speaker to my Spitfire (now to my Wildfire) and have a LOT of volume coming out of this very affordable unit.
The Hellfire would be my 2nd recommendation for someone that wants more volume and is willing to get in a little deeper. It runs $350, has 75 sounds, more volume than you could ever need (NEVER EVER turn a Hellfire on while you're in the truck, in case it's on full volume!) Love this caller. Little different look, but fantastic volume, great sound, and loaded with features. The Hellfire is the most powerful "production" Foxpro there is, short of the "custom shop" models.
The Firestorm is basically the same functionally as the Hellfire, but with less sounds pre-loaded. The Biggest advantage is it has two speakers and can play stereo sounds. I have never actually used stereo sounds for any reason, ever, even though my callers are capable of it. GREAT caller, but for the price, I would get a Hellfire instead for the added volume over the stereo speakers. If you want to lean towards stereo sounds, or like the more typical shape of the Firestorm, the Hellfire or Firestorm are essentially the same functionally (hellfire comes with more sounds).
The Fury is more expensive, but it can play stereo sounds, and more importantly, can play 24bit sounds, which will offer you the highest sound quality available from ANY E-caller on the market, bar none.
Prairie Blaster, I've never owned personally but have USED one, it's a fantastic caller. Huge volume, tons of features.
The Shockwave is a cadillac in a fleet of cadillacs. Absolutely AMAZING machine. The features are simply without peer in the E-caller world. Whether it's changing the pitch of your call sounds, designing your own custom sets, recording temp, pressure, set duration, etc data about your sets, or playing high quality 24Bit sounds with killer volume, the Shockwave LITERALLY is the most advanced caller on the market, with NO other caller capable of these features.
The custom shop Scorpion X1B is a great value, very compact, and very powerful. It DOES require an auxillary speaker to reach its full volume potential, but is louder than a Wildfire as is. With an extra speaker, it's about the same volume as the Fury/Firestorms, but a smaller/lighter package, and a little cheaper.
The CS24B is also a HIGHLY sought afterCustom Shop E-caller. This was the direction I went before the Shockwave was available, preferring the volume and portability over the Prairie Blaster.
Frankly, if you're just getting into calling, then I'd look HARD at a Wildfire or a Hellfire. They'll have everything you need to call coyotes.
