I really want to try one of the new cheaper lighteed reticle scopes like millet dms. I would check those out too. Some AR15 guys are running them and I've only heard good things

Depending on what your laws say for deer. I'd go for a new england firearms Handi-Rifle or Ultra Hunter. I've had a handi-rifle in 243 and it did pretty well on yotes and deer. 30-06 would also be a good bet for both of them.

Brod-man becareful what you choose to shoot, i know when i asked the wardens here in ohio i was told 22 caliber on public land, but any thing on private land is ok....sounds kinda weird to me..but u mite wanna give them a call before u go spending money...good luck
