As for what gun you should use, all of them would work. Even the shot gun. If you can call them in real close, some 00 will take care of them. If you think that you will end up with longer shots, take which ever rifle that you think you will have the best luck with. Ususally the one that you shoot the best with. A 22lr will work as well, just not effective at longer ranges.

RE: WOW!!!!
passthrough24- I just purchased a Primos DVD with a Howler call. The movie is called "The Truth II- Callin' All Coyotes"... about 3hrs long.
The narrator/hunter/instructor is Randy Anderson. His comments and how to's are very good.
I always used a cottontail distress call and a fawn distress call. Never knew how to howl, etc. This DVD will not only show you some great shots on coyotes, but you'll learn how to call with some different mouth calls.
Hope this helps you.

Buy any of Randy Andersons Coyote calling videos/dvds. He is by far the most instructional/helpful guy out there. He gives out lots of secrets and spends alot of time in his videos showing you how to call, what calls to use, etc.

RE: WOW!!!!
I got into predator hunting 2 years ago. I would not use a .22lr on a coyote it is not fair to the animal you want to make the quickest most humane kills you can. I guess it depends on what you want to do. Are ya gonna keep the pelts? If so ya might want to get a .204, .223, .220 swift, .22-250, .243,12/20 gaugenot limited to these but they are a few. With the right bullet selection you could use the bigger guns to save fur. I personally sold my .300 winmag and built and AR15 and Bought a .22-250 bolt action savage. I havea johnny stewart E-caller and it was good to start with but I just got a minaska M1 bandit which is much better caller it was under $500.00 and is awsome it uses a memory card and you can download sounds. It is really fun and I would have to say addidctive good luck.
