Don't know where your family is at in Louisiana, but Evangeline Parish is paying a 35 dollar bounty for beaver tails because of the drainage problems they are causing. Apart from that, the price of beaver is up around 20-30 dollars in many places.
In terms of fur prices, the website for each states DNR/wildlife and fisheries often list fur buyers in the state. Or, you can do a basic google search using terms like "fur buyer," etc.
