Getting correct shot weight
I' m reloading 28 gauge on a MEC Supersizer. My 3/4 oz. bar throws an 11/16 oz. charge consistantly and it does not fill the Cheddite hulls enough for a good crimp. I put in one of the adjustable bars and it seems to be very inconsistant in the amount of shot thrown.
The load I' m using is 20 gr. Blue Dot and when I shot over my Chrony I got a spread of 1225 to 1301 fps. My average was 1260 and the load calls for 1265. I worry that the 1301 is just too hot. I' m shooting a Red Label 28 gauge.

You might try a different recipe with a different wad and see if that helps . I have hit a few loads that weren' t as tight as I like them and just changed recipes .As far as the spread on the chrono that seems to be quite a bit but not enough to have to worry about . Have you checked the powder charges to make sure it throws consistant each time.

BTW Hornady is the only company I know of that makes different size bushings for different sizes of shot.
