Experience with Swift A-Frames?
Curious what experience anyone has with this bullet, whether in somethign big or small, but particularly how it held up on game...also how the accuracy from your rifle was...
going to be loading up the .340wby with some 275 A-frames
So let me know what you thought of how your Aframe performed whether it was from a .270 or a .458....thanks.

RE: Experience with Swift A-Frames?
Probably one of the best terminal performance bullets out there. I used them one year for a moose hunt. I have the recovered bullet somewhere. Probably 90% wieght retention.
But just way too overpriced IMO. For thier price, I will just shoot TSX. Rip thru anything.

RE: Experience with Swift A-Frames?
pretty certain I'm going to have some loaded up for my .340wby with 275gr A-frames.....otherwise it would be 250gr Nosler Partitions
or 225gr Barnes TSX
to be used this fall on bison....which is why I wanted to go heavier....the 250grs are a consideration but not the 225gr TSX I don't think, for this particular hunt....
if the 275grs are awesome perhaps down the road on something big/dangerous like a brown bear or in africa...though I think they won't let you use a .338 on cape buffalo.....though maybe a good moose round, though I suspect any of the 225-275 will get the job done, but like the idea of a heavier slower bullet compared to the 225 or 250 on bison....think on moose etc....would goto the 225 or 250s

I think these have a pure copper jackets, but not sure. But if this was a larger bore rifle and a large animal hunted it wouldn't deter me. But for 30 cal and smaller and higher volume shooting I would pick a gliding metal jacked bullet like a Nosler, Hornady, or Remington. These three all offer bonded and or partition.

RE: Experience with Swift A-Frames?
Try this load:
Caliber: 340 Wby. Mag.
Bullet: 275 gr.
Powder: Norma MRP
Charge: 85.0 grs. (NOT MAX LOAD BUT START 3 TO 4 grs. BELOW THIS CHARGE)
Velocity: 2751 f/s
I have loaded for my .340 Wby. Mag. for about 15years, and Norma MRP has given me the best acccuracy and velocity of all powders I have used. You can find Norma Powders from Black Hills Ammo.
Good luck.

RE: Experience with Swift A-Frames?
I have some 145 grain A Frames that shoot honest sub 1" groups out of my 270, and at very good velocity (2900+fps). I am thinking that I may use them on an updcoming moose hunt in Newfoundland. My confidence in them is pretty high.
