Default Remington 280 loads

Is any one shooting 140 grain Accubonds from their 280? I have a new one onthe way, and was curious what the best powder choice has been for this caliber. Thanks, Mark

4831's seem to work well. My partners likes H4831 with 140-160 gr bullets.

RL22 59grains with the 140 accubond has taken many deer at 300yrds for me, all 1 shot kills!
I have a model 70 win with a 22in barrel and the velocity of this load is 2940 at the muzzle an under 3/4 of an inch at 100yrds and 1 1/4 at 200 yards, I am pretty happy!

My .280 likes R 19 with 140 grain ballistic tips and IMR 4350 with 160 grain partitions...

Haven't tried the Accubonds...

Mark, what rifle is it? If it is a bolt action, no problem, slow powders from IMR 4350to RE22 and even as slow as IMR7828 will work well.

If it is a Remnington semiauto, you should use powders no slower than IMR 4320 in it, to keep port pressures down to non-damaging levels.....

Yes the gun is an A-Bolt SS. Thanks for the advice. I have all of the above mentioned powders except forthe RL-19. That is available locally, so it won't be a problem. Thanks again, Mark

I'm inclined to aa3100,imr 4350,and h4350 with 140 ballistic tips in .280,as well as .284 with h380 for deer. I have witnessed awesome instant kills on deer with these bullets.

I agree. A .280 is one of those calibers that can perform well with an amazing variety of powders. Although RL19 and IMR 4831 are very close to "ideal".
