.308 thompson encore

Any body have any loads worked up for a 308 in an encore. I have a 16" barrel. I currently shoot factory rem corelocks in 150 grain. they group awsome but the recoils is a bit on the heavy side. I want to load a lighter bullet with maybe a fast powder to get the recoil down.

I have a .308 15" Encore also. I shoot Hornady 150gr SST's out of mine. The best accuracy I get is from 40.0 of IMR 4064 and Rem. 9 1/2 primers...the only downfall is recoil!! I will take the accuracy anyday when it comes to "HAND-CANNONS",not much room for error...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Jack, where in Pa are you? I live about an hour south of Pittsburgh in Washington county. Have you tried a lighter bullet? I think that's the direction I want to go.

I live in Luzerne County. This is the only load I tryed in the Encore,like I said it's accurate. Good Luck...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I was wondering, I have a encore chambered in 300 win mag. How close do you guys seat your bullets to the lands in your encores? I find it hard to set my bullets close to lands in these things because of their long chambers. What are your oppions on this? Thanks
