he said that he hasn't seen much ... they were starting to come in though. He was going to drive around some more tomarrow but it looks like they are still north. Hopefully they will be more within the next few days

Well I don't know. Maybe I'm looking through rose colored glasses! And don't get me wrong here Mrs. Fire, I hope your husband tags out and all the people with him do too. And there's a good chance they will because the season doesn't even open until tomorrow.
We left Kisk yesterday morning. There was about 8 inches of snow on the ground...not 2 ft. And it's supposed to rain there today mixed with snow. I am now about 350 km west at Raddisson and there is no snow on the ground here. If you look hard enough you might find a trace in the ditch.

Has he been having any luck with the ptarmigan?
Are the lakes frozen; if so is the ice safe to go out on?

Most of the big water is still wide open. Some of the smaller places have a skim of ice but in No Way would any of it be safe to go out on yet.

Not sure which one he is but if he's the one that's running the camp, then yes he's very up beat because the caribou aren't very far away. They could even be there by now. Not the main herd but a small one. Got a lot of hunters in there already. We weren't hunting, just doing a survey and collecting samples. We saw several sets of tracks which I assume were the front runners or possibly some of them that stick around all year.
