Crown land/forest in Southern Ontario
Hello Ontario Hunters!
I am just a beginner hunter. Could anyone let me know if there are any crown lands or forests in Southern Ontario, closer to Toronto, Simcoe, Orangeville or Guelph areas (all of Southern Ontario is fine too)? I wish to hunt on crown lanad or forests but I have no idea how to find them. I cannot locate any maps. Any suggestions much appreciated,

I think you can hunt the Simcoe County forests, but I'm not positive on that, give them a call.
Be carefull of government maps, I printed crown land maps from the Ont Gov before and they clearly show my room-mates uncles private land as crown land.

Check out the Dufferin county forests. You need to buy a yearly pass which I think is about $20.00. They have deer and turkey. Also the Copeland forest just north west of BArrie has public hunting. Check with the Midhurst MNR office and they wil give you a map to all county bushes in the district.

As others have stated most counties have recreational lands that allow hunting. Go to a tourist info place in the municipality and ask if they have any maps. I know Bruce and Grey counties have maps that show the locations of their public lands and the uses allowed.

Each of the wildlife management areas listed on page 2 should be open for hunting.
