Leupold Binoculars
I am going to purchase some new binoculars and
am going to get Leupold Cascade binoculars in the
8x42 this week and am curious if any one else here
uses Leupold binoculars and what is your opionion
of them. With a Lifetime warranty it is hard to pass
them up.Any comments are appreciated. Mike

RE: Leupold Binoculars
I currently have a pair of the Leupold Yosemites. They are in inexpensive little porro prism binocular that Leupold produces. For the price there is very little that compares to them optically, or for overall feel, in my opinion. I have owned the Olympics, Cascade Porros and Katmais at one time or another. At their respective price points they are definitely a viable alternative for someone looking for a good, solid binocular. Probably the biggest drawback I remember is their relatively narrower field of view in relation to their competitors. However, their new Mojave- open bridge style binocular is something I would like to check out.

I think the cascades are one of the better offerings (in 07 leupold/wind riverfleet anyways). However for less money I'd at least comparethem to the Nikon ATB Monarchs(like most Nikons they provide a feeling of a bright image, however the 8x monarchs hold their own in other areas as well...pretty darn good bin considering the investment). They come with a 25 year/no fault warranty.
I have also been impressed with Vortex.I admit to only having looked through their mid and upper class thus far but have heard good things about their entire lineup. Also might be worth consideration.
What ever you do don't buy without trying as many as you can stand...don't be in a rush either. I find comparing optics is like picking out a perfume for your wife or GF, if you try to cram to many into one session they end up all smelling similar and you may end up with one you never intended too. On both accounts I learned the hard way!!.

I have a pair of Green Ring Cascades 10x42 and I really like them. They're easy to look through and they're good for gathering light. I looked at the Nikon's as well and I didn't really care for the focus on the Nikon's. The Leopold's seemed to be just a bit clearer and brighter when compared to the particular set of Nikons that I looked at. Either pair is a great set of Binos for the money though.

Ordered my new Leupold binoculars this week
and they will be here monday.I ordered them
from Optics Planet as they were the best price
that I could find anywhere.Wanted to order
from Cabelas but they were out of stock and
just a little to expensive.Tried out the Leupold,
Nikon and Bushnell and the Leupold seemed
the clearest to me and love that lifetime warranty.
Thanks to all who responded! Mike

One of my brothers has the Leupold Wind River binos and they're a great set for the $. My other brother who guides in Alaska has a pair of Swarovskis and the Loopys aren't even close to as good as those, but the Swarovskis were $2k.

RE: Leupold Binoculars
My new Leupold binoculars came yesterday and
I am more than pleased with the clear image that
these binoculars have and I could not be more
pleased with the quality that the binoculars have
and how good they gather light.Just thought that
I would share how nice these binoculars are. Mike
