Default 3D FITA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Here in Europe we was very happy wen IBO and Fita (Watkins and Easton) fouded the 3DInternational in 2002, a better future for the 3D shooters was born.
Now no one news about USA Team about this important event next May in Italy.
Watkins isn't now the IBO President, ok, but other persons can know some news.
I hope that all the job made by Watkins don't go in a corner, because if is it, here in Europe 3D Int will go in the trash.

I'm afraid the future may not be so bright for the IBO/FITA partnership. Mainly because of the limiting of classes, there's only three, and limits within each class. I was invited to the first event because of my ranking in the MCU class of the IBO. But I couldn't make it because of time and money. After talking to the American team when they returned I found out that my equipment would not have even qualified under FITA regulations. These restrictions even came as a surprise to those who went because some of their equipment almost didn't meet FITA requirements either. If this partnership is going to work there needs to be a lot more information released to the archers over here about the rules and regulations that will govern this event. (No Camouflage of any kind, no binoculars, the Traditional class bow has to fit through a certain size ring when unstrung and have a limited amount of recurve in the limbs are just a few of the limitations I was told about.)

We are doing everything that we can to fund the team to Italy. We have a team that should represent us well.
WE also believe that 3-DI and the relationship with FITA is very important to the future of our sport.
We believe in the fun and the discipline of 3-D archery. We believe that archers everywhere can share that same enjoyment.
I have heard that many more countries will be represented than were participating in the first championship held in France two years ago. We look forward to seeing the competition.

I also share your admiration for Mr. Easton's efforts. His vision and guidance for archery's future has been so valuable that we will not understand how much it has meant for many years to come.

Pins Class there isn't, is right, because Pins and lens are under the only "compound" class, like Fita style, but if you want, you can compete with pins (max 5 pins).
The 3DInternational Rules are a mix with IBO and Fita rules, but just from the start they have put some modification.
I think that in the Future, if 3DI will start well, some differents come occours.

Starting in 93 we started talking about the ways 3-D archery could be offered to shooters around the world. We discussed ways that 3-D archers could be included into the discussions that reflected archer numbers around the world.
How could a bowhunting organization work with an olympic representative organization.
Many, many coversations were held over a couple years. I was invited to attend a meeting of the FITA Executive Council in 96 to talk about 3-D archery and to discuss possibilities.
In 2001 & 02 3-DI became a solution and an avenue to follow for a nationally represented world championship. The IBO Board of Directors ratified the creation of 3-DI.
FITA voted to accept 3-DI into a fraternal association in 02.
In the spring of 03 FITA ratified the 3-DI rules.
The first 3-DI /FITA World Championship was held in France the summer of 03.
We are still working on many different things concerning the game of 3-D archery and the FITA National organizations. But those discussions will probably go on forever. Some folks want this or that, others need something else. That is the nature of an international effort.
That little Cliff Notes version of the progress does not include any of the local issues within many different countries. But progress is being made and it has been a very worthwhile effort.

In the third week of May the athletes representing the best our game has to offer will meet in Genoa Italy to contest the game of 3-D Archery for the 2nd 3-DI /FITA World Championship.

Alberto,
Good luck in your attempt to qualify to represent your country in this event. The athletes we send will be worthwhile competitors, and will look forward to the challenge that not only your country but all of those participating have to offer. We are naturally proud of the men and women who shoot competitively in the US, but we are also proud of those who strive to bring that competition to a more global format.
