long guns can be bought as long as you have a fid card handguns do have to be transfered to a nj ffl

not sure if it has changed,,but when i got my shotgun and pistol permits-- the law read "you will be granted or denied a shotgun-rifle permit in 3 to 5 days and a pistol permit in 7 to 10 days". they tried to give me that 6 months to a year crap,,, i handed them a copy of the law and had both my permits a couple days later.. the long wait is so you will get up and not persue a permit. and that is in n.j.

Finally... after I called them earlier this week... the police station called me last night... my card is ready! However, I can only pick it up on Thurs. between 5 - 8 PM.

Make sure you do NOT sign the forms until you are at the police station in front of the detective.
