Default Deer Tour Study 2002

The 2002 Deer Study Tour is moving forward and I wanted to give you all an update and also seek any thoughts you have on it.

J. Merlin Benner, Wildlife Specialist, DCNR has graciously stepped forward to lead us in this project.

It will be done the weekend of 9/14/02 and we will meet 7 PM on Friday for the first time at a location near Hills Creek State Park in Tioga County. That evening we plan to spotlight for ratio and population information. The following day we will discuss the spotlighting results and examine habitat in several areas for deer impact.

We will probably close with some sort of picnic.

I will try to keep you updated and please feel free to offer suggestions.

Many of us will bring family members and camp at the state park. This is a good one.

Like the one completed last year, we hope to learn more about deer and deer management and this is a hands on experience that everyone should benefit from.

Many people plan to camp at this lovely state park and many others have camps nearby. This is a beautiful area and the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is a major attraction.

Most of us will keep an eye open for a big woods deer stand for hunting season. Two birds with one stone.

Come out and join us for a fun and informative time. And please do bring the family. The deer tour is not mandatory and the wives may want to do something else.

I will try to keep you updated and please feel free to email me at [email protected].
