PA HUNT CLUB DON'T JUST LOOK TYPE SOMETHING
I DON'T KNOW WHY I CAN'T POST NEW REPLYS ON THE OLD TOPIC BUT I KEEP SEEING MORE AND MORE PEOPLE LOOK AT THE TOPIC BUT NO HELP OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I GUESS THE HUNTERS HERE IN PA AREN'T WORRIED ABOUT NOT HAVING LAND TO HUNT ON...... SO WHY SHOULD I... I GUESS I WILL JUST BUY ALL MY DEER MEAT AND WILD GAME BIRDS FROM FARMS CAUSE THATS ALL THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO DO IN THE NEXT FEW YRS.... HOPE NO ONE WANTS TO RAISE THERE KIDS TO HUNT CAUSE THERE WON'T BE ANY LAND LEFT.... ITS THE REASON WHY PEOPLE TRAVEL OUT OF STATE TO HUNT CAUSE THERE ARE TO MANY HUNTERS AND NOT ENOUGH LAND IN PA... BUT WHEN A FARM GOES UP FOR SALE NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN MAKING IT A HUNTING CLUB AND IF THEY ARE NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO HELP THEM.... THERE ARE SO MANY GRANTS OUT THERE THESE DAYS ITS EASY TO DO.... BUT THIS WILL BE MY LAST TIME WRITING SOMETHING AND I WILL JUST BUY MY SELF THE 40 ACRES I WANTED AND JUST NOT LET OTHER PEOPLE HUNT ON THAT EITHER LIKE THE REST OF THE PEOPLE WHO BUY UP ALL THE LAND....

Greek hunter,I did not know about any grants. Pa hunters are just not ready, maybe not aware of the road we are going down.Other states did and we see the results. Lots of land being bought up and leased to pay to hunt outfitters. Land is hard to find that is resonable in Pa. also.Land that has any deer pop anyway. For example there is 25 acres down the road from me. Zoned for 1 home only or ag 245,000. barely enough for 1 hunter. The economy isnt to good either and the majority of peole are credit carded out. Me Im disabled on a fixed income, anit much I can do. If I had the resources I would not be in this state.I would of moved and bought a couple thousand acres. When I lived in South Texas you either paid to hunt leased property or bought some.Very little public land. Up here we have a nice amount of public land ,but the PGC would rather grow trees then sustain a good deer pop. so they want them killed big time.

RE: PA HUNT CLUB DON'T JUST LOOK TYPE SOMETHING
This is something that has really been getting me upset for the past 20 years. Here in southwestern PA you have to hunt on all the public lands because most farmers won't let anyone hunt on their posted lands. Leasing land for hunting clubs is not a good idea at all. There was some land that was bought by a local timber company. My father and I hunted on this land since I was able to hunt which was about 1986. Then around 1990 some guys leased the place for their hunting club.....guess what....now no one can hunt on it because the whole damn thing is posted. Now we hunt game lands and the deer population is horrendous. I don't what can be done to solve this situation, but PGC needs to do something about their QDM, because it has destroyed the deer populations in the state game lands.

Did I miss something on another thread which has now left you quite upset? Granted, I am not happy with the public versus private land issue in PA either but I am sensing that something in particular has you perturbed.
Also.....
I am unfamiliar with this. Can you suggest a website or place to contact to start this process?
Also.....
THERE ARE SO MANY GRANTS OUT THERE THESE DAYS ITS EASY TO DO....

WELL NOT EVEN A HUNTING CLUB HAS TO BE FORMED JUST A GROUP OF HUNTERS DEOM PA 1500+ AND WE JUST BUY LAND IN PA ALL OVER AND THEY CAN HUNT IT.... LIKE 40 ACRES A FEW GUYS HUNT IT... 100 ACRES FEW GUYS HUNT AND SO ON... IF WE HAD LAND ALL OVER PA JUST FOR MEMBERS TO HUNT AND WE PUT UP FOD PLOTS... AND MANAGED THE LAND RIGHT WE WOULDN'T JUST NEED STATE GAME LANDS

RE: PA HUNT CLUB DON'T JUST LOOK TYPE SOMETHING
One of the main problems with buying land soley to hunt on and/or QMD is money. I have barely enough money to support my wife and two kids. Hey who wouldn't love to buy a bunch of land. Let me give you an example. Not too long ago my wife and I went to look at what was advertised as a small farm with 30+ acres. This so called farm was an abandoned run down shack in which the foundation was crumbling. as you can see by my name, i am in the business of renovations and such. I figured to get the house just into living conditions it was going to cost me well over $60,000 !!! That's not the half of it. The land was a huge field with atleast 20 oil wells spread thoughout it. The oil wells were not only unsightly, they smelled horrible. The mineral rights to these wells were owned by somebody else. That means that whoever owned these rights was/is able to come onto the property anytime they wanted to and that meant to me that the land would be never truly ours. That's still not all. The guy wanted no less than $90,000 dollars for it. Now with that being said, you would need to hire a lawyer if you bought any kind of land to check to make sure you would own ALL mineral rights to the land. ALL meaning coal, oil, natural gas, gold, silver, whatever. Plus if you buy property that has timber on it, you have to make sure that somebody doesn't own the timber rights to the land too. All in all, if the land is worth anything at all, unless you are a millionaire, you can't afford it!!! This means any good hunting hunting land is either taken or not for sale.
