my folks start putting food out in oct., apples, pumpkins, apple pumice, then some deer grain closer to the house once the apples run out. the most i have seen this winter so far is 27 deer. with bino's you can tell the dropped antler bucks, plus the button bucks. so far the deer, dispite he snow are still looking pretty healthy, all but the one doe with a growth over one eye.

In NY it is illegal to feed deer. So this is about the only way that deer can get easy food that has any nutritional value for them. I really think DEC needs to rethink their policies but until they do I guess the deer just need to find an open AGbag and go to town.
