Vermont rifle season

RE: Vermont rifle season
The kill during rifle is way down, around 25%. Something like 4,800 in 2003 compared to 6,400 during the same time period in 2002. Vermont is in desperate need of good whitetail management.

I hear ya Upstate! What a disgrace that was.
I spent the first week of December in your state deer hunting (western NY). What a great place. Lots of deer and some nice bucks. I took a doe and a decent 8 pt. Can't wait to get back next year. I wouldn't even buy a Vermont license next year, but the turkey hunting is too good here to pass up.

Wow, that is depressing news. I love Vermont and would love to hunt up there but havn't due to the poor reports I get yearly. I didn't hear about the deer jacking politician...that is sad.
I hear ya about NY, I'll be hunting there for the first time next year.

That's about all we have for good big game hunting in the state now is moose and turkey. Godd luck trying to draw a tag. With only 440 tags given away and over 8,000 applicants, the odds aren't very good.
Congrats on the deer. My 8 pt was 140 lbs and taken with a shotgun.
