RE: Turkey season
My season came to an end today. Called in two Jakes five minutes after seven to within 15 feet. At 8:25am, got a hen to respond to my calling. After her second response,a gobbler cut loose in the same spot. Back tracked about 10 yds. and set-up. Worked the birds for about 18 minutes. Four hens along with three long beards came into range. Bird had little over 9inch beard. BRING BACK SPROUL

That'll do. nice job. I didn't get out on Saturday but I've been out Monday and today. I think the heat has them crazy. They gobble their heads off the first 1/2 hour of daylight until the sun clears the ridgetops then quiet the rest of the morning. Of course they could be with hens too.

Took this guy yesterday in the Mass opener... 19 & 1/2 lb, 9" beard, 1 & 1/8" and 1 & 1/4" spurs. He hung up on me strutting on a ridge alone around 50 yards... I slipped in another 10 yards behind some thick trees and got a shot off at about 40 yards when he was looking for the sound!
