Anyone applying for Maine moose?
The time has come for you northeasters to think about applying for a ME moose permit. They don't give alot to non-residents but it can be a slam dunk if you draw.
PS.. I've been waiting 10 plus years to draw and have a ton of bonus points but still can't pull it off. I always try for a bull only permit but your chances get much better if you willing to take a cow permit.

No guide is required in Maine for the Moose hunt.. I am not sure if you might need to show proof of a hunter safety course from your state or not. Though if you hunt for a Maine Moose you do not need to take any specials cousres up here. I would make sure about the safety hunter course requirements if you have not had one though..

Geez Phil.. You live there and can't get a break so I'm guessing I will never see a permit.
You don't need a guide as you say phil but you had better be ready when you drop one. My pals out of Old Town have everything from winches to a giant cooler as well as some real slick set-ups forgetting one into the back of a truck.
A wise man drops them as close to the road as they can.

Yeah, when dealing with these large animals You do need alot of rigging that is for sure. HoweverI have helped load a few by hand as well. Moose season here draws alot of folks out on those back dirt roads..When a few show up they normally will give you a hand..
I do carry about a hundred feet of rope just in case one was to wander off on someone. It sometimes happens and having a good strong heavey rope helps alot at times..
