Stillhunting in the snow used ti be my absolute favorite way to hunt. I think stalking and taking awhitetail in it's bed with a bow or a smokepole is one ofhunting's ultimateaccomplishments. The bad tickerhas kinda put an end to thatfor me and I envy you Ryan!

I took a 2 hour walk in the snow this morning and only cut 4 sets of tracks in some of the best habitat in the state. it was in a 3 year old cut with great cover and unlimited food supply but very few deer.

4 sets of tracks in a fresh postseason snow isn't too shabby.
Compounded by all the posted land surrounding you that the deer seek refuge in at this time following seasons.
Sounds like your area could use a higher allocation.

We started late, around 9 AM. We saw about 20 deer and probably 50-70 sets of tracks. Most of the tracks were less than a few hours old. The deer were apparently out feeding early in anticipation of the storm. At 3:30 when we quit and headed home, the deer were out everywhere feeding again.

The more you practice something, the "luckier" you get!
I've had the good fortune to take two muzzy deer and one very nicebuck with a bow from their beds in late season at less than 20 yards. I felt lucky every time becauseluck was amajor factor every timebut I was also out there an awful lot of other times trying to get "lucky"
